If You Are Registered as ‘Self Employed’
Self-Employment Income Support Scheme Grant Extension (from 1st Nov 2020)
To be eligible for the Grant Extension self-employed individuals (including members of partnerships) must:
1. have been previously eligible for the Self-Employment Income Support Scheme first and second grant (although they do not have to have claimed the previous grants)
2. declare that they intend to continue to trade
and either:
1. are currently actively trading but are impacted by reduced demand due to coronavirus or
2. were previously trading but are temporarily unable to do so due to coronavirus
Self-employment and Universal Credit
Universal Credit is a monthly payment to help with your living costs. You may be able to get it if you’re on a low income, out of work or you cannot work.
If You Are Employed (this MAY include Company Directors*)
New Job Support Scheme (from 1st Nov 2020)
If you’re in a Tier Three area (businesses are forced to close) Government will pay 67% of wages
Other areas (not in Tier Three)
Must work at least 20% of hours, employer also pays another 4% and Government pays 49%
*At the time of writing full details are not yet confirmed and the application process is not yet available on the Government website.
Business Grants
Local Authorities (LAs) have been given additional funding to allow them to support businesses in high-alert level areas which are not legally closed, but which are severely impacted by the restrictions on socialising.
